Is Finland ready for increased labour immigration?
There is a broad consensus among experts and policy makers that increasing education and labour immigration plays a significant role in developing Finland’s population, the labour market, economy and competitiveness. Therefore, the aim of the conference is to activate the debate on what is the actual readiness of the labour market and rest of society to significantly increase labour immigration.
The opening words of the conference will be given by Ms. Tuula Haatainen, Minister of Employment of Finland and Mr. Akseli Koskela, State Secretary to Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo. The conference will have two panel discussion addressing labour immigration from different perspectives. The first panel discussion will address the challenges of labour immigration through international research data. The second panel discussion will focus on the actual readiness of the Finnish labour market and society to significantly increase labour immigration. The conference will conclude with a presentation examining labour immigration through a case example from Germany.
