Conference of the European Migration Network (EMN) entitled EU preparedness on future migration flows was held on 5 and 6 October as part of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The participants were addressed by the Slovenian Minister of the Interior Aleš Hojs, and the European Commissioner for the Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, who emphasized that a comprehensive approach to migration management and cooperation are essential for future development.
The conclusions of the Conference were presented in press statement by the Director General of the Directorate for Migration, Ms. Nataša Potočnik: “The experience, knowledge and insights of the participants showed us that timely exchange of information is imperative, furthermore, we all have to make good use of EU agencies and other available resources and tools. Above all, a comprehensive approach to migration management (return, control of the EU’s external border, fast and efficient asylum procedures, legal migration) is important, which is also a priority of our presidency of the Council of the EU.”
